The Grote Markt is the vibrant heart of the markets of Groningen.
The Produce Market on the Grote Markt is centered around the lovely old city hall of Groningen. Open on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, you will find a huge diversity of products and goods there. It’s a great place to browse among the various stalls with all kinds of trinkets. On Tuesdays, there are more stalls that sell fabrics as compared to the other days.
There is also a small market on Thursdays next to city hall. The opening hours of this Market are officially from 13:00 until 21:00 p.m. However, in practice the market is open all day.
And if you feel like having something to eat or drink in between shopping, you can go to any of the food and beverage stalls on the market itself. Or enjoy one of the many terraces surrounding the Grote Markt.
